Mugello ha lanzado su sombrero al ring como un futuro lugar para el GP de Italia.
La pista en Toscana, propiedad de Ferrari, está buscando un lugar en el calendario de F1 para cuando el contrato recién firmado de Monza expire en 2024.
«El primer objetivo será renovar el acuerdo con MotoGP», dijo el director de Mugello, Paolo Poli, al Corriere dello Sport.
«Pero luego, dentro de cinco años, también pensaremos en presentar una solicitud para llevar la Fórmula 1 a la Toscana».
Poli dijo que Mugello continúa disfrutando del respaldo total de su propietario, Ferrari.
«A diferencia de otros circuitos italianos, Mugello no es estatal», dijo. «De 2006 a 2016, Ferrari realizó grandes inversiones para aumentar la calidad de la infraestructura.
«El listón está en constante aumento y estamos listos para mantener ese ritmo».
